Scooby Dooby Doo!!!

I made these fun little cookies for a Scooby Doo themed party.  My client wanted a cookie for each character, and a party favor for each child.  I decided that a "Scooby Snack" shaped cookie would make a perfect party favor, and here's how they all turned out!

Baseball Cookies!

I thought I could get a blog post done, since I'm sitting here waiting for wedding cakes to bake.  The 16" square cake layers take about 70 minutes per layer, so I have some spare time.  I could be folding laundry, but that's no fun!

I made these fun baseball cookies for the after-game treat.  The client wanted them each to say the name of a player on the team, and she wanted an extra large cookie for each coach.  I had to look up a picture of a baseball, I don't know what people did before Google images!  I'm not much of a sports fan, and I wasn't sure what the laces looked like.  Let me know what you think!

The Tangled Cookie Collection

I closed my Etsy shop for a little over a week so I could get caught up with all of my orders and take a few days off to rest.  I finished a very busy week, filling my 20 sheet bakers' rack 3 times in 4 days!  That is 20 dozen cookies x 3 = insane amount of work!  I was looking forward to 4 days off, a time to rest and hang out with my kids and cook dinner for a change.  Instead, I got terribly sick the first day of my time off, and spent the rest of the time recovering.  And napping.  I'm feeling much better now, and I am so excited to get back to what I love to do!  I'll start this week with a post about some cute cookies I made for a client for her grand-daughters birthday party.

I made the tower cookie cutter myself (I've been doing that a lot lately), and used a tiara cookie cutter that I hadn't used before. I loved the dimension that the curly vines gave to the tower, and I hope I captured the charm of the movie.  For the tiara, I piped the design with yellow frosting first, and after it hardened, I applied 2-3 coats of gold glaze.  It's a new product for me, I've always used luster dust in the past, but this is so much better!  I loved the bright yellow gold shimmer.

I just added this set to my Etsy shop, and I look forward to making it again!

More Dr. Seuss Characters!

First, let me apologize.  I'm a terrible blogger.  The worst.  I will look at my blog, and realize it's been over a week since I've even thought about writing a new post.  To be fair, I've been really busy.  In the last 7 days, I have single-handedly cut, baked and frosted over 1000 cookies.  The kids are back in school, and that helps me get my work done, but I have one little distraction at home.  What am I supposed to do when I have such a cute distraction?

Have I mentioned he's a bit of a handful?  Sorry - back to cookies!  I had a client request a Dr. Seuss themed cake topper.  Since I don't have as much luck working with fondant as I do with cookies, I asked if she would mind if I made the cake decorations out of cookies.  She agreed, and I got to work!  I wanted to make something special, something to match her adorable invitation.

I first frosted some scalloped round cookies in blue frosting with white dots to match the invitation background, and let the cookies completely dry.  I then hand sketched the characters on the cookies, and piped on the details.

The number 2 shaped cookies were the party favors.

The Domestic Diva Collection

I made these cookies for a client in Alabama that I've worked with a number of times now.  She was having a "Domestic Diva" bridal shower, and wanted some sassy shoes and purses to be her centerpiece and party favor.  She gave me the image from her invitation, and I hand drew, then piped the design on a large message cookie.

I had so much fun making these, I made more than she requested!  I have a bit of a thing for shoes (ask my husband), so it was fun to design my own, in a way.
