St. Patrick's Day cookies are here!

I had so much fun last night!  I made my St. Patrick's Day cookies, and I love them!  I added disco dust and sanding sugar for the first time, and it sure makes them sparkle!  I made a pot of gold, shimmering gold and deep black, leprechaun hats, each one with a little gold buckle and tiny green shamrock, gold coins, and 3 leaf clovers, each hand marbled or with piped detail.  I added them to my Etsy shoppe, so check it out!

Toy Story Cupcake Tower

I made over 100 cupcakes today for a 3 year olds birthday party.  I loved the theme!  Toy Story 3, with an emphasis on Buzz.  I made aliens, rocket ships and stars.  The round orange thing on top is a really cool moon, I didn't get a great picture of it though.  The aliens were each cut out by hand out of marshmallow fondant, and the eyes were piped with royal icing.  The cake was red velvet and the frosting was cream cheese.  The stars were cut out using a mini cookie cutter (thanks Jen!) and threaded with wire while still soft.  The cake was vegan chocolate (soooo yummy!) and the frosting was homemade marshmallow fondant. The rockets were also cut out by hand, and each little window was punched out with a straw.  The cake was funfetti, and the frosting was almond buttercream.  My friend Jen came over to help make all of the cupcake toppers, thanks again Jen!

Valentine's Day was a huge hit!

I opened shop this month on a whim after a few friends suggested people would like to buy my cookies.  I put an ad on Facebook and opened an Etsy shoppe, and within 78 hours I had more than 30 dozen cookies ordered.  Wow!  Exciting but a little more ambitious than I expected!  Over the next couple of days, I got a few more orders, bringing my total baked to 530 cookies, each one packaged individually.  Let me say first that I had so much fun!  I worked very hard, but I never felt overwhelmed.  My mom and dad helped make it happen - they fed my children and watched over them for me, something I was not capable of doing while baking and decorating over 14 hours a day, 5 days in a row.  I was able to ship my cookies all over the country, and only 3 out of 78 arrived broken!  I got most of my orders from my fabulous, supportive co-workers.  I delivered more than 20 dozen to those great people! I couldn't have done it without the support of Jen, Justin and Christine, you are my cheerleaders!  Now to prepare for Easter and St. Patrick's Day!

Thanks everyone for supporting a new business!
